Pawleys Mainstreet Hwy. 17 Medians Fundraiser

Donate to Pawleys Mainstreet

Let’s Help raise money for the Care and Maintenance of the raised medians along Hwy. 17!!!

As you may know, the raised medians have been an eyesore along Hwy. 17 - Just recently cleaned up after several months! Hwy. 17 Corridor is the main travel roadway through our community and the first visual impression of our unique and historic small town to many who travel it. We want them to truly represent our community!

The new Mainstreet Pawleys non-profit organization recently adopted the raised medians from Martin Luther King to Waverly Road.

Mainstreet Pawleys is a group of concerned citizens in partnership with the Georgetown County government to ensure the care, maintenance, and upkeep of the raised median beds and other valuable landscape assets along this section of Highway 17.

They are now organized and actively raising money to get these medians more manageable and manicured.

CLICK HERE for the Coastal Observer “Medians to get cleaned up” article.

Let’s support them!

Donations will help Mainstreet Pawleys leverage any potential County funding to support the following program:

  • Regular pre-emergent, fertilizing and pruning of shrubs and trees

  • Annual mulch application

  • Replacement of dead and damaged plants

$25, $50, $100 or more will go a long way!

Thank You for helping keep Pawleys Island beautiful!

Georgetown County Redistricting - Redefining Our Representation

Charles Swenson of Coastal Observer Shares an Update on the

Georgetown County Redistricting Process

Join Us for a ZOOM Event

Thursday, January 20 at 10:00 am

Join our ZOOM Event on Thursday, January 20th at 10:00 AM with Charles Swenson of the Coastal Observer as he updates us on the County's Redistricting Process and potential final results of the County's districts.

Every 10 years, federal, state and local district lines are redrawn based on the most recent census data. These lines determine who can run to represent us in elections at all levels. District lines should be drawn to ensure fair and equal representation for all residents.

It is the responsibility of Georgetown County Council to update the seven county council districts. These lines determine representation for county residents on the County Council, as well as the Georgetown County School Board. Georgetown County received census data in late September of 2021 that allowed it to begin the process of redistricting.
